Bali, The Island of Paradise

Do you know that Bali has been named the world’s best island for several times? In 2009, the paradise island beat out other unique islands like the Galapagos islands in Ecuador, Kauai in Hawaii, and the Maldives.

Bali lies between Java and Lombok islands. It is one of more than 17,000 islands that make up the Indonesian Archipelago. Bali is small, stretching approximately 140 km from east to west and 80 km from north to south. Lying just 80 south of the Equator, Bali boasts a tropical climate with just two seasons a year and an average annual temperature of around 28 C.

So why is Bali very popular? What places in Bali that attracts many tourists to come?

Kuta

Kuta is famous for its classic surf with waves that break over sand instead of coral.

The beach is known around the world not only for its waves but also for magnificent sunsets, shopping and nightlife. Once a sleepy fishing village it is now a tourist Mecca with a year-round free-form beach party of surfers, visitors and vendors.

Dreamland

One of the most beautiful beaches on the island, it is also renowned for its dangerous shorebreak. The beach provides basic accommodation and cafes for surfers and day trippers.

Legian and Seminyak

Located north of Kuta, Legian and Seminyak are the most upmarket of the west coast’s beaches, with high-end accommodation and mostly high-end restaurants and bars to serve its residents. The atmosphere is more sophisticated and laid-back than Kuta, and the beach in particular is quieter during the day, although this area too is developing fast.

Sanur beach

Sanur beach is a long stretch of beautiful white sands lined with palms that shade dreamy footpaths market stalls and relaxed beach cafes.  The waters of Sanur are protected by a long string of offshore reefs creating large, warm shallow, safe lagoons that are perfectly clear and excellent for swimming, snorkeling and a whole array of water sports.

Sanur is a very mellow town that embraces tourists yet retains the pace of old village life. Sanur maintains Bali’s largest traditional village and only a stones thrown away from the beach, ancient temples stand as solemn as they have centuries past.

 Jimbaran

Jimbaran Beach is an extremely tranquil beach and perfectly white. Walking or just sitting and waiting for the sunset are two of the most popular activities to do on this beach.

The dining spots in Jimbaran Beach are famous for serving delicious sea food with local recipes. A must is a sunset dinner along one of the many delicious cafes offering the freshest seafood around, lining Jimbaran beach.
