Nokia E72
The Nokia E72 is the successor to the Nokia E71. It features a sleek business-like design, sporting a BlackBerry-style full QWERTY keyboard across its wide body. As one of the Nokia Eseries devices, it comes with standard features including mobile email, calendar and instant messaging amongst many others.
The device operates on the non-touchscreen Symbian S60 platform, so there is no screen-tapping action here – its 2.36-inch QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) landscape-oriented TFT display is similar to the E71′s.
The E72 has a higher level of performance compared to previous model likely due to the faster 600 MHz ARM processor. Nokia also upgraded the camera to 5 megapixels from 3.2 megapixels and comes with an LED flash, a CMOS sensor, autofocus, and up to 5x digital zoom. The camera options are plentiful with settings for image quality, various shooting modes, including panorama, and color tone
In addition, HSDPA connectivity has been boosted to download speeds of up to 10.2Mbps and HSUPA upload at up to 2Mbps. Other notable features include A-GPS and compass with integrated Maps.
The E72 has also introduced an optical trackpad within the navigation D-pad, so light finger action can initiate movement on the screen. This is said to improve the ease of scrolling through menus, emails, Internet browser, and images as it is an optical sensor rather than a series of closely-spaced buttons.
Accessing popular accounts such as Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail and thousands of other email service providers is simple through improved on-device email setup. Device owners will also be able to connect to their favorite IM accounts such as Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and Ovi, amongst many others.
The device shipped with updated version of Quickoffice suite for creating, viewing, and editing Microsoft Office documents; a PDF reader; a ZIP manager; a business card scanner; a file manager; a dictionary; a calculator; and more.
The 1,500mAh lithium ion battery has a rated talk time of 12.5 hours and up to 20.5 days of standby time.
